"IanZ - limited-slip indifferential" (ianz-limited)

These are the headlights on the 2016 Volvo XC90. As you may have noticed, they are elegant, clean, and restrained. And in one fell swoop, that h*ckin’ orange reflector ruins everything. Not only is it an obnoxious orange, it completely ruins the shape defined by the “Thor’s hammer” LEDs.
European regulations don’t require reflectors, so the colors are less jarring, but the natural shape of the light is still ruined.
Interestingly, the S90 incorporates them much better.
The only other cars I’ve noticed with this problem are Jaguar. The j-shaped LED strip looks like it should define the shape of the headlight, but those d*ng reflectors jump right in to ruin everyone’s day.

They still look a million times better than non-integrated ones.

They want orange reflectors up front, but are fine with red turn signals. Thats good logic.

I’ve seen Pagani Huayras in person. I can vouch that these reflectors are cringey in reality just like how it’s cringey on the internet.
This Volvo ain’t nuthin.

There are cleaner ways to do this. Volvo chose the uglier way.

I think the issue with Jaguar and Volvo headlights are inversely affected by the U.S. regulations, not in that they are required to have amber reflectors but that to have one headlight and front bumper assembly for North America and another for the rest of the world would be too costly so have one single design and simply omit the amber reflector.
It’s either that or have the non integrated ones half arsed attached to the front bumper corner.

Aren’t those lights rather than reflectors though?

Not even dedicated red turn signals. They can be integrated in the normal brake lights!

I am amazed at how much worse a car can look thanks to those hideous bits of orange sticking out.
And where orange SHOULD be (Rear turn signals), there is nothing. I have no clue why most American market cars have turn signals with brake lights, seems ridiculous.

In the case of the Jag the DRL is supposed to follow the body line across the top of the fender.

Those reflectors are the most tragic thing.

Bah, this sort of stuff ruins all sorts of good looking cars. The Citroens and Lamborghinis sent to your fair country are easily the ugliest ever built, thanks to your regulations. I see the indicator thing a lot on Oppo, it’s very upsetting.
